This compact router is outstanding. I have a spira-cut I could have used for sign making but the base is not secure or strong enough. This router solves the problem by giving both support and strength at the point of contact. Also, router sign making bits are much safer and better to use.
Other Pro's:
Plenty of power.
Much smaller than I expected making it superb for freehand sign lettering and tracing patterns.
Size makes one able to operate with one hand and you can control movement with better accuracy.
You need the plunge base. Otherwise, this unit is not worth the cost. The plunge adds the magic for what this router can do.
Con's:
Cost. This is not cheap but neither is it flimsy. I know you get what you pay for.
I can't find a spare plunge sub base for purchase. They have them for the fixed base but not for the plunge. Hard to find so far.

SOMETIMES I GET TIRED OF SUPPORTING MY MUCH HEAVIER FULL SIZE DEWALT ROUTER SO I THOUGHT I WOULD GO FOR A COMPACT ONE TO MAKE IT A LITTLE EASIER ON MYSELF. IT IS A GREAT PRICE (I GOT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE $20 OFF PROMOTION). I HAVEN'T USED IT A WHOLE LOT YET BUT I CAN TELL IT WILL GET ME THROUGH MOST PROJECTS. WHEN IT JUST LACKS ENOUGH POWER I WILL SWITCH TO MY LARGER ONE, IF AND ONLY WHEN ITS NEEDED. WHAT A RELIEF!
